In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, a small, consistent spark of community has been quietly glowing in South Calgary. It’s not a formal gathering, not a club, and definitely not an organization. It’s just good wings, honest drinks, and real conversations—hosted by a man named Archie who understands the quiet ache of being awake in an often asleep world.

Every Wednesday evening, you’ll find Archie and an open table of like-hearted folks tucked in the back of the Regal Beagle Pub (South location) between 5:00–10:00 PM. The group settles near the Regal Beagle sign, just past the ATM and Golden Tee, forming an informal circle of freedom-minded individuals who believe that community is built, not bought.

This drop-in-style event has been running for 28 weeks strong and was birthed in what Archie calls the “misery season”—Thanksgiving through Valentine’s—a time when people often feel most isolated. It quickly turned into something more: a place for new Calgarians and longtime locals alike to find connection, conversation, and yes—half-price chicken wings and happy hour cocktails (until 6 PM).

The vibe is totally casual. No pressure. No dress code. No speeches. Just come as you are. If you’re unvaxxed or simply aligned with values of bodily autonomy, critical thinking, and personal sovereignty—you’ll find kin here. Even if you’ve taken a different path and are simply seeking authentic, awake conversation, you’re welcome. The only ask is that you be honest about your heart and your journey.

There are no name tags or awkward icebreakers. Just real people, real talk, and a table that’s seen its share of laughter, questions, and courageous conversations.

As Archie puts it, “Being awake is a lonely process. So many emotions and tribulations, questions and queries. Why not come down and connect with other like-minded people?”
