If you are seeking alternative health options, please refer to our YYC ROCKS Service Directory. Fever Remember fevers help us fight infection. Management is not about removing it completely, but instead not letting the temperature get too high. 37.5 - 39.0 ℃ is a beneficial fever and does not need medication. 39.0 - 40.5 ℃ is a moderate fever and it is suggested to give medication to reduce the temperature. Also consider giving a warm bath or sponging their head with a cool cloth. This is highly effective for younger children to bring down their temp quickly. Also encourage fluid intake. 40.5 ℃ and higher is the warning temperature and if the fever doesn't decrease after giving medication, and trying other interventions, the child may need to seek emergency medical attention. Managing Flu Symptoms Symptom management is about being consistent, using multiple interventions daily combined with diet, rest, and supplementation to maximize our healing capacity. Steam therapy! 2-3 times a day. Use your shower to get the bathroom really steamy, and spend 10-15min there. Great before bed time. Saline nasal drops for the little ones, and saline nasal spray for older children and adults. 3 times a day. Honey. Take a tea spoon of honey, and eat it directly from the spoon. It's a natural cough medicine, anti-mucosal and soothes sore throats. Bee propolis is a homeopathic spray or drops that helps heal your sore throat. Just FYI is has a bitter flavour, but it works! Ensure you are eating a healthy diet, and consider adding supplements like Vit C, Vit D, Zinc, Magnesium, NAC.
